Mila has used this pad as part of her daily routine for over a year. It is the pad that started her red light therapy journey

Designed for dogs who prefer to simply lie down and relax, the Large Red Light Therapy Pad delivers both red light (660nm) and near-infrared light (850nm) simultaneously across the full back, hips and surrounding joints. Both wavelengths work at the same time in every session, targeting surface tissue and deeper joints together.

With 210 lamp beads across a 68cm x 33cm pad and up to 22W of power, it provides broader coverage than any single targeted pad, making it the natural choice for senior dogs, larger breeds, and dogs experiencing arthritis, hip stiffness or age-related mobility changes.

Is This Right for My Dog?

This larger pad is ideal for dogs who need full-body support rather than targeting a single joint.

It’s best suited for:
• Dogs with stiffness affecting multiple areas
• Senior dogs or larger breeds
• Dogs who struggle to stay still with smaller devices
• Dogs who benefit from calm, passive sessions

If your dog prefers therapy focused on a specific joint such as knees or shoulders, our Smaller Targeted Red Light Therapy Pad may be a better option.

Full-Body Coverage

Measuring 68cm x 33cm, this large therapy pad is designed to provide wider coverage across your dog’s body.

It allows light to reach:
• Both hips simultaneously
• Lower back and spine area
• Multiple joints at once
• Larger body types more comfortably

For dogs who become restless with targeted devices, this lie-on design offers a more natural experience.

Simply place the pad on a bed, sofa or floor and allow your dog to relax.

How Red Light Therapy Works

Red light therapy (also known as photobiomodulation) uses specific wavelengths of light to support the body's natural recovery processes at a cellular level, without any heat, discomfort or medication.

This pad uses two wavelengths working simultaneously, so your dog always receives the full benefit of both lights regardless of which setting you choose:

  • Red light (660nm), which works at surface level to support circulation and tissue recovery
  • Near-infrared light (850nm), which penetrates deeper into joints and muscles where stiffness and discomfort are often felt most

Unlike some pads that only offer one wavelength, this pad delivers both at the same time across every session. The dual-spectrum approach is why we chose this pad for Mila and why we are confident recommending it.

Used consistently as part of your dog's routine, it supports dogs experiencing:

  • Arthritis and joint stiffness
  • Hip discomfort and mobility issues
  • Reduced movement in older dogs
  • Post-exercise muscle soreness

Specifications & Certification

We believe you should know exactly what you're getting, so here's the detail behind the pad:

  • Irradiance: 124.1mW/cm² at surface contact, strong enough to make a genuine difference
  • Wavelengths: 660nm (red light) and 850nm (near-infrared), delivered together in every session
  • 210 LED beads across a 68cm x 33cm pad, giving full-body coverage rather than one small area
  • Up to 22W of power
  • CE, RoHS and FCC certified, so you can trust what's going onto your dog

This is the same pad Mila uses every evening, and the numbers behind it are exactly why we chose it for her.

Built-In Comfort & Control

Everything is designed to make therapy simple and consistent at home. The handheld control panel gives you full control over every session without disturbing your dog once they are settled.

Five power levels (P1 to P5), allowing you to start gently and build up as your dog gets comfortable. We use P1 or P2 with Mila day to day, and go up to P4 or P5 on days when she is particularly stiff.

Three light modes, giving you flexibility depending on your dog's preference:

  • 10Hz mode, pulses the light at a low frequency, which some dogs respond particularly well to
  • 40Hz mode, delivers a near-constant light with a gentle flicker
  • Continuous mode, a fully steady light with no flashing at all. This is the mode we use with Mila as she is most relaxed with the constant light

Adjustable timer from 10 to 90 minutes, so you can build sessions up gradually and find what works best for your dog.

The pad also features an automatic shut-off for added peace of mind, so there is no risk of it running longer than intended.

12 Month Warranty

Every ChillyPup Red Light product comes with a 12 month warranty as standard, covering full product failure. To help your product last, store it rolled rather than folded flat, and keep it away from water and moisture at all times. Full warranty terms are on our Returns and Refunds Policy.

The Science Behind Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy can feel like a bit of a mystery from the outside, so we wanted to show you exactly what's happening underneath the fur.

This diagram shows how red and near-infrared light behave once they reach your dog's skin. Red light (660nm) stays closer to the surface, while near-infrared light (850nm) travels further, reaching down into the muscle layer beneath.

It's a completely natural process, simply light interacting with the body. Nothing is injected, ingested, or absorbed chemically, which is why it's such a gentle addition to your dog's routine.

Why Mila Uses It?

Mila is an active 8-year-old who loves water, chasing balls and running after squirrels. So when she started slowing down after walks, struggled to get up and started to limp, we knew something wasn’t right.

After vet visits and X-rays, she was diagnosed with arthritis in her back legs. We didn’t want to rely only on medication, so we looked for something we could use at home to support her comfortably.

That’s when we introduced red light therapy into her routine.

  • Helps her settle more comfortably after walks
  • Supports stiffness in her hips and back legs
  • She simply lies down and relaxes

On days when she’s more tired, this larger pad has been especially helpful. Instead of targeting one joint at a time, she can lie down and receive gentle, full-body support.

Used regularly, we’ve seen a clear difference in how she recovers after walks, less stiffness, more comfort, and ready to go again the next day.

She’s still the same energetic Mila. This just helps her stay comfortable doing what she loves.

I bought this because my doggo was diagnosed with IVDD and had to have spinal surgery. I wanted something to ease his recovery and for long term use for his condition. I'm so glad I bought this, my doggo absolutely loves it and it really does make a difference. Each time I turn it on, he melts into the pillows and has the best sleep, and I can see how it eases his pain. It's been fantastic as a supplementary treatment along with his rehab and rest. Thank you so much!

Thank you Roxy, this is such a lovely review to receive and that photo really does say it all. He looks completely at peace, stretched out flat in the way only a Frenchie truly can, Mila lies exactly the same way. IVDD and spinal surgery is such a worrying time for any dog owner, and the fact that the pad has become such a comforting part of his routine alongside his rehab is really wonderful to hear. We hope he continues to go from strength to strength.

First of all, everyone was really helpful in placing the order in the United States and answering questions that I had. I have a little French bulldog who’s four years old and was diagnosed with IVDD a few months ago. We purchased the Matt to be able to help her with her healing as well as a handheld one that I don’t think worked as well or as efficiently..
I’m hoping this brings her along in her journey . Thank you!!

Thank you Lorraine, and we're so glad the team was able to help before you ordered. Your little Frenchie looks absolutely gorgeous in the photos. We hope the pad becomes a comforting part of her routine, and we're rooting for her every step of the way.

I bought one of the large red light mats for my German Sheppard, Luna. We've managed to convince her to sit on it after some persuasion! We really have seen a difference! The team were absolutely amazing helping me pick one and after care once I got it and tips and tricks to get Luna to stay on it. Always email back quickly, always looking for ways to be helpful!
Couldn't recommend them more!

Thank you Jade, Luna sounds like she keeps you working for it but it's so worth it when they finally settle. Really glad the tips helped and that you've started to see a difference. The photo is brilliant, and we're really glad it's benefiting her.

Have been looking for better way to use red light for my dog as been using my face panel on her but through research I found out for dogs to get the benefits it’s best to use a device that they wear or have placed on them as their fur can stop some of the energy from the lights to penetrate. Found this one online and was the right wavelengths needed and nice to be able to support a small independent company too. First time of use and Nelly climbed on the pad happy and relaxed.

Thank you so much for sharing this, and for doing such thorough research before buying. You are absolutely right that direct contact makes a real difference for dogs, and it sounds like you already had a good understanding of what Nelly needed before you found us. It's lovely to hear she climbed straight on and settled happily first time, that always tells you a lot. We hope it becomes a regular part of her routine.

I purchased 2 of the large pads for both my fur babies as they both have arthritis and my lady has luxating patellar's. I was looking for something to work alongside their pain meds and supplements.
Firstly the customer service from Elliott and Mila is exceptional, I made a mistake on my address and contacted ChillyPup and they were more than helpful with information and even tracked my parcel for me to ensured it was delivered for me.
The pads are a great size and both my pups fit on them with ease.
My lady has taken to the pad really well and will lay and relax on it without much persuasion, my boy on the other hand is more stubborn and it will take alot more treats to convince him that its there to help.
Although I've only had them a few days I am hopeful to see a small benefit in the next couple of weeks.
I am tempted to give them a go myself, it might stop my aches and pains getting out of bed in a morning

Thank you so much for such a detailed review, and for trusting us with two of your dogs at once. I'm really glad we could help sort the address mix-up and get your parcel to you safely, that's exactly the kind of thing we want to get right for every customer.
It's lovely to hear how differently your two have taken to the pads already, one settling in straight away and the other needing a bit more convincing with treats. That sounds very true to dog personalities. Hopefully it becomes part of their routine alongside the pain meds and supplements, and works well for both the arthritis and the luxating patella.
And if you do decide to try one yourself for your own aches and pains, you might have to queue up behind your dogs for a turn.

I bought this, originally, for my 9yo black lab, Harry... however it turns out we're all loving it! 😅 After a few weeks of use, Harry seems to be moving just as well as he ever has and gets the zoomies out on his walks, my 19yo cat has started jumping between couches again and I (18months in recovery from a badly broken leg) find it incredibly soothing! Well worth the investment. Thank you, ChillyPup!

Hi Rachael, thank you so much for sharing this, what a lovely review to read. I'm thrilled Harry is getting his zoomies back at 9 years old, that's exactly the kind of thing we hope for when we hear from customers.
It sounds like the pad has become a real household favourite, glad it's brought a bit of comfort for everyone who's found their way onto it. Wishing Harry many more zoomie-filled walks ahead, and a continued smooth recovery for you too.

My 7 month old puppy Milo has been suffering with really bad back pain due to his spine. Therefore, we started his red light therapy today and I must say it does definitely work! We started with only ten minute sessions to see how he would take to it and he absolutely loves it! We noticed whenever we put the red light on he is instantly relaxed and goes straight to sleep during the session. However, I am more than pleased with this red light but I was unsure at first for buying until I read the reviews and wow I am glad I bought it for my boy :)

Thank you Mel, really glad Milo took to it so well from the very start. Starting with shorter sessions is exactly the right approach. We hope he's continued to settle well on it over the last few months and that it's making a positive difference for his back.

The large pad was 100% the right choice

We debated between sizes but went for the large pad because Winston stiffness isn’t just one joint, it’s hips and back.He simply lies across it and relaxes. He’s getting up more comfortably and seems to move more freely.
If your dog has general stiffness rather than one specific area, go for the large. It’s worth it.

Hi Mark, thank you for sharing this, and for the really useful advice to other owners at the end. You have summed up the difference between the two sizes better than we could. It is brilliant to hear Winston is getting up more comfortably and moving more freely, that is exactly the kind of steady improvement we hope for. Long may it continue for him.

He actually chooses to lie on it

We leave the large pad set up in Archie's usual resting spot and he naturally goes and lies on it. That was the reassurance I needed.

Since using it consistently, Archie seems more comfortable after playtime and settles much quicker in the evenings. I originally found this through Mila and that authenticity really mattered when spending this amount. It feels premium and it performs like it too.

Hi Rebecca, thank you so much for this, it is a lovely review to read. Archie choosing to go and lie on it himself is honestly the best sign you can get, it tells you everything you need to know. It is brilliant to hear he is settling more quickly in the evenings and feeling more comfortable after playtime. Thank you for trusting Mila's story enough to make that investment, and for taking the time to let us know it has been worth it.

Noticeably smoother movement afterwards

Our Frenchie has Bella always had a sensitive back folloing having IVDD and I’m constantly watching how she moves.

We use the large pad in her crate. She walks more smoothly and seems less tense. It’s subtle but absolutely real improvement. Thank you for answering all my questions before I ordered that personal touch made the difference.

Hi Sophie, thank you so much for sharing this. As a Frenchie owner I completely understand that constant watchfulness over how they move, especially after IVDD. It is really reassuring to hear Bella is walking more smoothly and seeming less tense, those subtle but consistent improvements are exactly what you hope for with something like this. I am glad the pre-purchase conversations helped too, it always matters to us that owners feel properly informed before they commit. Wishing Bella continued progress.

I didn’t expect to feel this relieved

Watching your dog slow down is tough and after a few vet visits we were told about a red light pad. After using the large pad consistently, I’ve noticed Ruby stands up more confidently and seems less uncomfortable turning.

It’s not a miracle overnight transformation but it’s meaningful improvement. For me, that relief is worth the investment.

Hi Sarah, thank you for sharing this. Watching a dog slow down is one of the hardest parts of owning an older dog, and it means a lot to hear the pad has made a meaningful difference for Ruby. Standing up more confidently and turning more comfortably are exactly the kinds of improvements that matter in daily life, even if they are gradual rather than dramatic. That relief you mentioned is something we completely understand. Wishing Ruby continued progress.

Hello. Why don't you list the irradiance? It is a very important piece of information, yet it doesn't appear anywhere on the website. Is that why they are cheaper? I look forward to your reply; thank you.Per això són més barates? Quedo atenta, gràcies

Hi Eva,

Thank you for raising this. We've now added a Specifications & Certification section to the product listing, which includes the confirmed irradiance of 124.1mW/cm² at surface contact, along with the full wavelength, LED and certification details.

We're pet owners ourselves and understand the cost of treatment all too well. Red light therapy has changed things for our own dog Mila, who has arthritis, and we want other dogs to benefit from it the way she has, which is why it's priced the way it is.

If you'd like any more details before purchasing, please email us at info@chillypup.co.uk, we'd be more than happy to help.

Kind regards,
Elliott & Mila

Wish we'd bought one earlier

After months of going back and forth, we finally ordered the large pad. Our Golden Retriever Max took to it immediately. He stretches out on it most evenings and seems much more comfortable afterwards. Definitely one of the better purchases we've made for him.

Thank you Ben, really glad Max has taken to it so well. A Golden stretching out on the large pad is exactly what it's made for. Worth the wait.

Comfortable after resting

We bought the large pad for our older German Shepherd, Bailey. He's still active but was definitely showing signs of stiffness after lying down for longer periods. We've been using the pad most evenings while he relaxes in his bed and over the last few weeks he seems noticeably more comfortable getting back up. It's not an overnight miracle but it's been a really positive addition to his routine. The quality is excellent too and feels well worth the investment.

Thank you Sarah, Bailey sounds like a wonderful dog. The stiffness after longer rest periods is exactly the kind of thing we hear about most, and it's really encouraging to hear the pad has made a noticeable difference over those few weeks. Glad it's settling into his evening routine well.

Helpful alongside everything else

We already use supplements and wanted something else to support Molly as she's getting older. The pad has fitted really nicely into her routine and we've noticed she seems less stiff, especially in the mornings. It's become something we genuinely rely on now.

Thank you Julie, it sounds like Molly is very well looked after. The pad works really well alongside supplements and it's lovely to hear it's earning its place in her routine. Morning stiffness is one of the things we notice most with Mila too, so that one resonates.

Glad we found this

After reading about Mila's story we decided to give it a try. There are so many red light products online and it's hard to know what's genuine. Our Cockapoo Teddy settled on the pad straight away and seems really relaxed when using it. After a few weeks we've noticed he appears more comfortable after longer walks and generally moves more freely around the house.

Thank you Amanda, Mila's story is very much the reason ChillyPup exists so it means a lot to hear it resonated. You're right that it can be hard to know what to trust online, and we're really pleased Teddy has taken to the pad so well. Lovely to hear he's moving more freely after a few weeks.

Worth every penny

I spent far too long debating whether to buy one because of the price. Looking back, I wish I'd done it sooner. Our Labrador Buddy seems much more comfortable and settled after using it consistently.

Thank you for this Laura. That first session where they just switch off completely is always a really good sign, and it sounds like Cooper took to it straight away. Really glad it's become such a settled part of his evenings already.

Fabulous piece of equipment,my boy smudge enjoys it very much and it's helping with his arthritis.
Highly recommend

Thank you Sarah, Smudge is a wonderful name. Really glad it's becoming a helpful part of his routine and that he's taking to it so well. Arthritis in dogs can be such a gradual thing to manage and we hope you continue to see the benefit the more it becomes part of his day.
